Formed in 2003, RONIN is Singapore’s No.1 Rock Band with its explosive music and wild, energetic stage presence. RONIN symbolizes five talented individuals with diverse, distinct personalities coming together for their love of Rock ‘n’ Roll and their mantra of Do what Thou Wilt.

FACTS

  • RONIN has a #1 hit song on Power98fm, “Black Maria”, which hit #17 on Power98FM’s Top98 Songs of the Year 2005! It is on heavy rotation on MTVAsia!

  • The band also lands the #3 spot on 98.7FM’s charts with “Crazy Son”.

  • “One More Moment”, a Christmas album contribution, is the longest running #1 most requested song for the year of 2005/2006 by clinching the pole position on Power98FM's daily countdown show for three weeks running! (January 2006)

  • RONIN is the first performing band in the history of Singapore to organize an extensive school tour, bringing rock concerts into the heart of 40,000 students in over 40 secondary and tertiary schools.

  • As of 2006, Motorola Singapore signs on as the major sponsor for the RONIN School Tour. The Ronin/Motorola Rock The School Tour continues to play dates to schools around Singapore.

  • RONIN organizes its own concert, Youth Gone Wild, on 24th June 2006 selling over 500 tickets with no mainstream media support in an experiment on guerilla marketing strategies.

  • Motorola chooses RONIN to promote their latest phone, the ROKR, in their advertising campaign in August 2006.

  • RONIN is one of the few bands in Singapore to have a distribution deal with a major record label, namely Universal Music Singapore.

    The Band…

Ferns was cultivated in a patch of fertile soil in suburban Kuala Lumpur in 2004, after having lost the yen for the bumpy terrain of indie rock. The group decided to search for greener pastures amidst the lush, spongy meadows of pop music. Visit myspace.com/fernfrens

    The Album…

The debut release began its fruitful ferment in April 2005 when the group set up roots in Standingwave Studios, Subang Jaya to record their homage to foliage. A sweet harvest cannot be rushed, and so the cultivation persisted with patience and devotion until completion in November 2006. Finally, after much toil and with a little nurturing sunshine, On Botany emerges flowery fresh, peering at the world with eager eyes!

    The Highlights…

  • One of Rolling Stone's Top 25 Best Bands On Myspace
